- Or GVC and USRobotics. You never hear about GVC because they sell
- mainly OEMs, but they sell a LOT of modems (at least until recently they
- were #1 with USR being second, although USR was catching up). In any
- case, the comment that the two largest modem manufactuers are shipping
- 33.6s is still correct as GVC is almost certainly the company that's
- making all the no-name brand 33.6 modems that have been appearing
- recently.
-
- In any case, to get back to the original question. The Motorola
- Premier adds more then just the 33.6 capabilities over the Motorola Power.
- It also adds 230.4kbps DTE speeds, synch/asynch support, leased line
- support, better dialback security, and probably a few other features which
- I've forgotten. IMO simply upgrading to 33.6 is not worth $100 by any
- means, but if you require some of these other features it may be worth it
- to upgrade.. You also get more bragging rights with the Premier then with
- the Power :>.
